Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today slammed the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) faction for resorting to “harsh personal attacks” in its bid to wrest the Manek Urai state seat in the upcoming by-election.
But he told reporters after his court hearing here today that the attacks against Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat showed that BN “feels threatened”.
Anwar blamed the smear campaign on the media controlled by BN, singling out Umno as the main culprit.
He said the move was an “unhealthy practice” that did not bode well for the future of politics in Malaysia.
