PKR Youth wants police to act against Khairy for vote boycott

PKR Youth is lodging a police report today against Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin for allegedly committing an election offence.
Khairy was reported in the Sinar Harian newspaper yesterday as urging voters not to turn up on polling day as the Penanti by-election made a mockery of democracy.
"This (the resignation of former Penanti representative Mohd Fairus Khairuddin) gives the impression that they are resigning according to their whims and fancies and holding elections. The public's trust should not be toyed with and voters need to protest," said Khairy.
PKR said such a statement is an offence under section 4A of the Election Offences Act which prohibits statements to the effect of discouraging voters to cast their ballots.
